St. John Fisher Catholic College student company win
West Midands Young Enterprise Company of the Year 2018
Numero – the student company from St John Fisher Catholic College has been named West Midlands Young Enterprise Company of the Year 18. This follows their success in being awarded Staffordshire Young Enterprise of the Year 2018 earlier this year.
Numero also gained prizes in the West Midlands Finals for ‘Best Innovation’ and ‘Best Trade Stand’ at the awards ceremony held on 13th June. The team of 18 students will now go on to represent the West Midlands at National Level. They will be competing in the Young Enterprise of the Year National Final at County Hall in London on 6th July, which will also be televised on BBC Breakfast.
The mission of Numero is to apply augmented reality to make Maths fun and interactive, thereby improving student attainment. Numero have created a Maths revision application with supporting cards and worksheets aimed at Key Stage 3 and 4 learners. The revision app brings questions to life using augmented reality features.
Judges from leading West Midlands businesses were particularly impressed with the partnership that has been formed between our sixth form and University to create such a unique and innovative product.
