Y8 Progress and Careers Evening

12th December 2019 @ 3:45 pm - 6:15 pm

Dear Parent/Carer,

I would like to invite you to the first Parents Evening/Information Evening of the year on Thursday 12th December 2019.  This is an opportunity to discuss your child’s progress with their form tutor, who will be based in the Library for the evening.  You will be able to get an update on achievement and engagement in lessons, be able to ask questions and share any concerns that you may have.

Alongside this you will have the opportunity to find out about the Options process that all our Year 8 learners will go through this year. This session will outline the guidance process we will start delivering to students during Year 8 that will ultimately lead up to them taking options in March of 2020. Each year we tailor the option subjects specifically to the year group and all students will have the ability to choose four optional subjects in addition to their core subjects. Mr Wakefield will run five identical 15 minute presentations that will give you details on the process and the curriculum your child will experience from the start of Year 9 to the end of Year 11. The timings of these are below:

Options Talks

16:00 – 16:1516:30 – 16:4517:00 – 17:1517:30 – 17:45

18:00 – 18:15

During the evening, as part of our work to support you and your child there will information about future career pathways and labour market information available for you to discuss and take home. The aim of this information is to support you in making informed decisions related to their options. We will also have IT support available should you need help in accessing our online services such as Show My Homework and SIMS Parent App.

Please get your child to book a time slot with their form tutor for that part of evening and attend the Options talk which best suits you.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me, either before or during the evening.

Yours sincerely,

Mr R Wakefield
Assistant Headteacher (Curriculum)
