Safeguarding at St John Fisher Catholic College

At St John Fisher Catholic College, we are committed to safeguarding. As well as the designated safeguarding team below, we have Pastoral Leaders supporting every year group, along with  teachers and support staff who work together to identify any learner’s need, at the earliest stage. It is a priority to intervene as early as possible to help our learners thrive and grow fully as the person they were created to be.

Where they is a safeguarding concern, our experienced safeguarding team, offer support. Mrs Vodrey is the first point of contact for learners, parents and staff who need to raise a safeguarding concern.

We can offer 1 to 1 support in school to support learners’ safety and wellbeing in school as well as signposting and referring to external agencies for professional help.

From 1st February 2021 St John Fisher Catholic College is part of Operation Compass, which means we receive secure notifications from the police following their attendance of an incident of domestic abuse involving one of our learners. Go to the policy page to see addenda

Mrs Teague – Assistant Head and Designated Safeguarding Lead

Support for young people, parents and families

We are Father Hudson’s Care Family Support Workers.  We offer support for young people and their families with any worries and difficulties they may be experiencing. We will work with you to create positive changes and make life feel more manageable.

We are happy for parents to pop in or to book an appointment through the Office, or use the contact details below or alternatively if the young person  would like to refer themselves then pop along to see Zena in the Welfare room (situated on the lower floor near to the computer room), or speak to Mrs Vodrey.

Contact details

Zena: 07823526789, email zenawedgwood@fatherhudsons.org.uk.
Zena is at school on a Tuesday to Friday

We will work around your needs, so if you are not able to get into school during the day, we can arrange to visit you in your home at a time that’s convenient to you and your family.
A member of staff would complete a referral so that you can gain support promptly.
There are lots of areas that support can be provided with. For example:

  • Family relationships, health and well-being, financial hardship, bereavement, housing matters or a referral to specialist services
  • Behaviour at home or school
  • Attendance or lateness
  • Individual work with the young person on self-esteem, confidence, parental separation, anger management, friendships, social networks, bereavement and problem solving.

Whatever issue, concern or problem you may have it is never too small or too big.
If you are unsure as to whether we can help you or your family then please just ask as there may be something I can do, or just pick up a Family Support leaflet from the Office.
