The Library

Our school library is staffed by Mrs R Edwards, Miss S Birchall and a team of pupil librarians.

Our opening hours are:

  • 08:00 – 16:45 Monday – Thursday
  • 08:00 – 16:15 Friday

Resources include:

  • Fiction books
  • Non-fiction books (including reference books)
  • Audio books

We also have 16 networked computers A 50 inch television screen & DVD player.

Students in Y7 – 11 can borrow up to 2 books for 2 weeks, sixth formers and staff can borrow up to 4 items. We do not charge for overdue library books but we do charge for lost or badly damaged books that we could not put back on the shelves.
Most books are available for all students, there are a few exceptions – some books are restricted to A level students, and some are age restricted. If your child wanted to borrow a book that was catalogued for an older year group, parents would need to sign a note to the effect that they are giving permission for their child to read it.
Our library catalogue is also available on ‘Moodle’ our school’s VLE, which means staff and pupils can search our library catalogue to see what library resources are available from any computer in school and from home.

Pupils can now check the library’s database from home (or anywhere with internet connection), from the above link and check which books we have on our shelves, if they are in stock or out on loan.  They will also be able to send messages to the Librarian regarding the books.
Pupils (and parents) can see the stock, and use the search facility to see our books on any particular subject. you can also see which books you have borrowed in the past.  Pupils will need to come and get their user log in information from Mrs Edwards in the library, who will also give them any further information they require. Pupils in Y7 and Y8 will be given their user names and log on information during their next  Library lesson.
Please see Mrs Edwards in the library if you would like any more information or parents can email if they would like their child’s log in details.
