Year 12 Return to School Letter

Year 12 Return to School Letter

Dear Parent/Carer,

In line with Government guidance the school will open to Year 10 and Year 12 learners from the 15th June.  This will obviously be subject to continued improvement in COVID 19 infection rates and is subject to change if the Government deems it to be necessary.

For Year 12, students will be able to return to school to have face to face lessons with their subject teachers for 2 hours, for each subject, per week.  The days on which students will come into school will match their usual timetable.  Therefore if a student usually had Biology on a Thursday morning – they would be able to have 2 hours of Biology lessons on a Thursday morning from the 15th June.  Details of the timetable can be found on page two of this letter.

In order to ensure social distancing is adhered to, a number of considerations have been taken into account:

  • Students will enter the school through the main Pedestrian gate and will make their way to the gate next to the Music room. The gate will open at 9:45 am
  • Once through the gate next to the music room, students will make their way down the side of the building in order to access the Romero building. All Y12 lessons will take place in this building.  This will ensure that no mixing can take place between Y12 students and the other students in school.
  • Each subject has been allocated a classroom, where, in the majority of circumstances, only that class will ever use that room.
  • Students will be allocated a seat where 2m distancing is adhered to between students. This seat will only every be used by the student who has been allocated that seat.
  • Each room will be deep cleaned at the end of the day.
  • Students will be able to use the toilets on each floor of the Romero building – ensuring that social distancing is adhered to.
  • Lessons will run from 10:00am until 12:00pm.
  • After lessons students will leave the school grounds using the same route they used to gain entry.
  • Unfortunately, for the health and safety of both students and staff, the kitchen and Quiet room will be closed.
  • Due to lessons only lasting 2 hours, there will not be a lunch period for Y12 students.
  • Students should ensure that they bring necessary materials with them such as paper, pens and textbooks. We also recommend students bring a water bottle with them as no other refreshments will be available.

All work covered during the face to face sessions will be published online for students who are unable to attend.

Unfortunately, to prevent possible transmission between “bubbles” of students, no movement between Trinity schools will take place.  Therefore, students who would usually take subjects at either St Margret Ward or St Thomas More, will continue to receive work set remotely.

In order to ensure the safety of both our learners and staff, social distancing must be adhered to.  A link to both our COVID 19 Risk Assessment and the addendum to our behaviour policy are found below.  Please discuss these with your child before they come into school on their first day.
