Year 8 Parents Evening – Wednesday 13th March 2019

Dear Parent,

You are warmly invited to this evening to discuss your child’s progress.

In order to make the event as efficient as possible we use an appointment system.  Your son/ daughter should bring the appointment form to each member of staff whom you wish to meet and they will fill in a time.  Please ensure that your child is aware of any part of the evening which is inconvenient for you, so that those times can be avoided.  When making appointments we would suggest keeping 5 minutes between each appointment to allow you time to find the teacher.

The evening will officially commence at 4:00p.m and the last appointment is at 6:30p.m.

Mr Hawthorne, the Progress leader for Year 8, will have the majority of his appointment slots filled by students in his Year 8 class.  Therefore if you require an appointment with Mr Hawthorne it would be best to make one on an alternative date. Mrs Madden and members of the Senior Leadership Team will be available on the evening if you have a specific concern.  It would help us to see as many parents as possible if interviews were kept to a maximum of five minutes.  If you are unable to be accommodated by all the staff you wish to see, please contact Mr Hawthorne and he will arrange a time for you.

Mr Wakefield will be available in the Library all evening to discuss any questions/queries you have regarding options process. Options Online access will be emailed to your child’s school email account on Wednesday 13th March. This will be how they make their choices for the coming three years. The deadline for completing this is Wednesday 27th March. If you have any problems with the online system get in touch with Mr Wakefield.

  1. We actively encourage the attendance of pupils in order for them to be part of the discussions.
  2. Parking will be available on the school playground from 3.30pm onwards, however please be aware that due to students leaving the school premises no car will be able to park here until this time. Parents Evening will be held in the hall and the library.  Parents are requested to enter via the hall door near entrance gate.
  3. We need to keep a record of parent consultations and so would be grateful if you “signed in” when arriving at the Parent Evening. We may also ask you to complete a questionnaire as part of our own quality assurance monitoring.

Yours sincerely

Mr M Stevens
