I am looking forward to welcoming all Year 8 learners back to school in September. Please find attached our recovery curriculum information that outlines the actions that we will take as a school to support your child as they return to full-time education.
Term begins for Year 8 on Monday 7th September 2020 at 8:55am. Learners should go initially to the main hall via the main entrance pedestrian gate.
Measures have been put in place to maintain the safety and wellbeing of our entire school community. Please note that at the time of writing, the current Government advice is that masks are not required in school setting. Should this change, we will be in touch. The times of the day for Year 8 are as follows:
|Start time||End time||Entry & Exit gates.|
|Year 8||8:55am||2:55pm|| Yr 8 will use the main gate nearest college for access and enter through the appropriate entrance for their form room, clean hands and go directly to registration classrooms for 8:55am registration.|
Exit beside Newcastle College at 2:55pm.
The school site will be open from 8:30am for access. There will be no before or after school provision. Please be aware that Sainsburys will restrict or limit access for learners before and after school.
For Sixth Form learners, from September, lessons will be available across all three Trinity schools and transport will be provided for students who study in a school other than their home school. Additional details as to how this will work will be provided in the first day back in September.
We will be endeavouring to maintain year group bubbles through a range of actions such as staggered start times, breaktimes and lunchtimes. The timings of these will be shared with learners when they arrive in September. Food will be available to purchase at breaktime and lunchtime. Please ensure that your child’s ParentPay account is topped up. Please be aware that additional cleaning will take place across the site throughout the staggered lunches through our cleaning contractor.
Upon entry to school, all members of the school community are expected to use hand sanitiser. The use of hand sanitiser will be expected upon entry to every new classroom during the day. From this point on, no personal headphones/earphones of any type must be used during the day for health and safety reasons.
Full school uniform is expected to be worn. Please find the school uniform policy at https://www.saintjohnfishercc.co.uk/sjf-policies/SJFCC-Uniform-Policy-June-2020.pdf Also, a reminder that no earrings/piercings/false nails of any type are to be worn, and any such piercing/false nail will be expected to be removed immediately on health and safety grounds. On the day that your child has PE, they should arrive wearing their full school PE kit. They will remain in their full school PE kit all day.
It is important that all learners bring all required equipment and resources to school every day. Stationery must not be shared between learners. Equally, stationery will not be shared by staff with learners. When exercise books or learner work is collected, there will be at least a 3-day return. Teachers will not take exercise books or learner work home in order to avoid any cross contamination. Please be patient as we adapt to the situation.
I would like to emphasise that any behaviour that puts the health and safety of members of our school community at risk will be dealt with using the Behaviour for Learning policy, which can found at https://www.saintjohnfishercc.co.uk/sjf-policies/The-Fisher-Way-Behaviour-for-Learning-Policy.pdf This will be explained in detail to learners at the beginning of September.
There is an updated risk assessment available on the school website, which outlines the measures and actions to be taken to ensure the safety of all across our school community.
It is important that we work together to ensure that we can maintain high standards of hygiene across our school and ensure we respond calmly and cohesively to any issues that may arise. I would encourage you to speak to your child about proactive ways to achieve this. I look forward to your support in the coming months.
Mr G Murray
Head of School
